With Wilder vs Szpilka just hours away, here’s a chance to catch Premier Boxing Champion’s Wilder vs Duhaupas Highlights. On September 26th, WBC champ Deontay Wilder successfully defended his world title in a mostly one-sided affair. But the near-shutout scores didn’t quite tell the whole story; Johann Duhaupas, a very capable, highly durable operator, took Wilder’s best shots for over 10 rounds, even managing to touch the champ with enough leather to close his left eye.
It was a tough, blood and guts affair, and although most of it was coming out of Duhaupas, the Frenchman more than earned his money and respect that night. But as with most of Wilder’s victims, Duhaupas received defeat via brutal knockout, with the referee deciding to wave off the violence a minute into the 11th. At least Duhaupas can say he went out on his feet.
Can Artur Szpilka derail the Deontay Wilder train tomorrow night at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn. Is a knockout inevitable? Or does Poland’s Szpilka, a former football hooligan, have what it takes to shock the world?
