Here’s your chance to catch Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez as they go head-to-head at their final press conference, hosted at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. Just three days remain until both fighters collide in what looks to be an explosive showdown likely to end inside the distance. Cotto and Canelo are bona fide boxer-punchers, cerebral and heavy-handed, who come chasing knockouts.
Minus the 10 year age gap, fight fans’ dreams have been pretty much answered in this one. Cotto, 35, will enter the ring with 44 wins, 4 defeats, 33 knockouts, and 25-year-old Canelo 45 wins, 1 defeat, 1 draw, 32 knockouts. As you may well already know, there’s been a recent ‘dispute’ between Cotto and the WBC, who have now stripped the fighter of his Middleweight title. In this 155 pound catch-weight bout, only Canelo will be eligible to take home the WBC’s accolade (provided he’s victorious, of course).
HBO cameras caught all the action at the Cotto vs Canelo press conference (catch it in full here):
Two all-action fighters, coupled with a Mexican-Puerto Rico dynamic, looks to be a recipe for one of the years’ most dramatic, exciting dustups. And without question, one of 2015’s highest grossing events. Cotto vs Canelo will erupt on HBO Pay Per View this Saturday, November 21st, and on Boxnation (for UK subscribers).
On the impressive world title triple-header support, Guillermo Rigondeaux will be putting his RING Junior Featherweight strap on the line against Drian Francisco. Also in action will be Takashi Miura who will defend his WBC Lightweight crown against Francisco Vargas, and Randy Caballero who will defend his IBF Bantamweight strap against Lee Haskins.
