With Mayweather vs Berto officially in the works for September 12th – just 5 weeks away – proceedings sharply gotten underway yesterday. The pair attended the event’s first press conference in Los Angeles. Floyd Mayweather and Andre Berto deflected criticism that the match-up is unwarranted – no surprises there – and did a good job of building up what looks to be a dreadful championship bout.
Solace can be found on the intriguing undercard, however, which will feature Ishe Smith vs Vanes Martirosyan, Badou Jack vs George Groves, and Rocky Martinez vs Orlando Salido II. Any one of those carries the potential to eclipse the headliner.
