At the Sheffield Arena, UK, Chris Eubank Jr and opponent Tony Jeter both successfully made weight. And that’s about all I’m really prepared to say since, you know, this is a truly awful match-up. I know Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing had no choice but to elevate this support bout to the headliner (after Kell Brook vs Diego Chaves was scrapped), but it’s still very difficult to build enthusiam for this one.
Eubank Jr came in at 160lbs on the scales, and Jeter just under the Middleweight limit at 159.6. Eubank Jr was shredded, while the 13-years-older Jeter was a little more ‘padded’, shall we say?
Going into the showdown – if that’s not too bold a word – Eubank Jr carries 19 wins, 1 defeat, with 14 knockouts, while Jeter will climb through the ropes with 20 wins, 4 defeats, 1 draw, with 14 knockouts. When the pair enter the ring, Jeter will give away two inches in height when he begins dancing with the 5′ 11″ Eubank.
Behind The Gloves cameras caught all the action at the Eubank Jr-Jeter Weigh-In earlier today:
Sky Sports will be broadcasting Eubank Jr-Jeter live tomorrow night, plus undercard support from European Junior Featherweight champ Gavin McDonnell as he takes on Jeremy Parodi.
Give us your take on the evening’s main event. If you can muster the energy, that is.
