Tyson Fury Eyes Position in Politics
Yep. You read that right, and you should probably pay as much attention to this as Kanye West’s quest to become the President of the United States. Anyway, here goes…
Tyson Fury, one of the Heavyweight division’s brashest stars, fancies having his say in UK politics. The 28-year-old, who is awaiting to hear a date confirmation for his rescheduled clash with Wladimir Klitschko, does have a lot to say, after all. You know, on just about everything.
“I want to make a change for the better for the place I live,” Fury said, who is apparently looking to become a member of parliament for Morecambe and Lunesdale in the next five years. “I believe that I will succeed because of the influence I have over the people from the town.
“I feel that coming from a travelling background, I am used to politics and arguing,” Fury continued. “My opinions on travellers are different to refugees – we are not talking about people coming over from Romania – they are British people.”
Mmm…Tyson Fury in politics? I can just imagine the House of Lords, all those esteemed political voices, expensive suits – and Batman!
Ah, dear, I made myself laugh with that one. I’ll be here all week, folks…
Khabib Allakhverdiev Looking to Upset Adrien Broner
You know that guy Adrien Broner’s fighting this weekend? The one whose name you’ll never see in a Twitter hashtag? Well, he believes he has what it takes to hand Broner his third defeat.
Former 140 pound champ, Khabib Allakhverdiev, isn’t actually that bad of an opponent. Let’s be fair here. He’s not a devastating puncher exactly, but is definitely an awkward southpaw with some tricks up his sleeve.
“I expect Broner to try to play his game, but we will play our game,” Allakhverdiev said. “The experience I gained after losing the title in my last fight [against Jesse Vargas] is that I really understand the opportunity that I am being given going into this fight.
“I am not worried about fighting in Broner’s hometown. I have fought many fighters in their own cities and it doesn’t bother me,” Allakhverdiev continued. “On Saturday night, I will show the fans a great fight and come out with the victory.”
Broner, who has looked significantly more focused ahead of this fight, should get the job done. He’s faster, stronger, and more powerful. He’s also refused to give pre-fight interviews, which perhaps shows how serious he views his comeback following the dreadful Shawn Porter loss.
We’ll soon see on Saturday if a new and improved Broner shows up.
Josesito Lopez Teams Up With Robert Garcia
Joesito Lopez has had a colorful career to say the least. One minute he’s up, the next he’s down. But you’ve got to hand it to the guy. This is one warrior who is never afraid to bounce right back.
After being handed the seventh defeat of his career by Andre Berto in March, the tough 31-year-old has now decided to join forces with renowned trainer Robert Garcia. This isn’t a bad pairing, by any means.
Garcia has guided a number of fighters into successful title shots, including men like Marcos Maidana (UD 12 Adrien Broner), and may be able to cultivate the beast in Lopez. The Welterweight division will likely continue be the target of Lopez, with names like Danny Garcia and Amir Khan in his sights for mid-to-late 2016.
This time period is most likely given Lopez has only just got the all clear to continue training (following a hand injury sustained during the Berto fight).
Thoughts, people? Will Adrien Broner plant himself back in the big picture with an impressive win on Saturday? Will Robert Garcia bring out the best in Josesito Lopez? And will Tyson Fury win his fight to be elected?
