Scott Quigg vs Carl Frampton could take place in February, 2016When it comes to big fights being made, boxing fans are used to being hit by disappointment more than often. Cos’ generally, they either never come to fruition, or have to wait a hundred years – or what seems like – before they do.

But with Scott Quigg vs Carl Frampton that doesn’t seem the case. Both camps have been in talks for the past few months, and if reports from both sides are anything to go by, we could be about to see two Featherweight titlists trading blows in February. Wowzer.

Reports from Frampton’s handlers Cyclone Promotions seem very optimistic of the showdown, and now Quigg’s trainer, Joe Gallagher, has chimed in with more good news.

“There has been lots of talks over the last couple years but finally it looks like it will happen,” Gallagher told ESPN.

“There will be lots of trash talk, lots of hype and lots of build up. It will be an event, and it’s the British equivalent to Erik Morales-Marco Antonio Barrera.

“I’m hearing they are talking about February 20 or February 27 and it will be the biggest fight of the year. The fighters won’t care where it is once the bell goes but if it’s at the Manchester Arena they split it half way for the fans.”

If the fight does materialise, we’ll have a unification bout between two undefeated fighters on our hands. Going in, Frampton would carry 21 wins, no defeats, with 14 knockouts, and Quigg 31 wins, no defeats, 2 draws, and 23 knockouts.

Who comes out victorious in Scott Quigg vs Carl Frampton, fight fans? In my head, Quigg’s uber-nastiness gives him that extra edge. But then again, Frampton is no Kiko Martinez. Perhaps there really is no clear winner here?
