The votes are now in for Boxing Base’s latest poll, Fight of the Year 2015. Yes, this post is probably reaching you a little late, agreed, but since the votes kept pouring in well into the new year we thought we’d keep it running for the first week of 2016.
There were some strong contenders for Fight of the Year in 2015, and so naturally the winner was never going to take the title by a wide margin. In fact there were to be two winners this year, with fan-favorite dustups Leo Santa Cruz vs Abner Mares and Takashi Miura vs Francisco Vargas both receiving an equal 17%.
In third place was the mini thriller Edwin Rodriguez vs Michael Seals which clocked up a surprising 14%, proving PBC fights were well within boxing fans’ sights in 2015. The remaining results came in as follows:
- Yunieski Gonzalez vs Jean Pascal – 12%
- Marco Huck vs Krzysztof Glowacki – 11%
- Andrzej Fonfara vs Nathan Cleverly – 7%
- Nonito Donaire vs Cesar Juarez – 7%
- Roman Martinez vs Orlando Salido II – 4%
- Lucas Matthysse vs Ruslan Provodnikov – 4%
- Jorge Linares vs Kevin Mitchell – 3%
- Badou Jack vs George Groves – 3%
- Other – 1%
