Light Heavyweight: Legends & History
The Light Heavyweight division, officially established in 1909, continues to hold a weight limit of 175 lbs. Prior to the creation of Cruiserweight (200 lbs) in 1979, anyone fighting above this figure was considered a Heavyweight.
Despite the addition of Cruiser, however, the Light Heavyweight scene has remained a dramatic, crowd-pleasing draw, with several of its finest talents managing to demonstrate their pugilistic prowess even further north at Cruiser and Heavy.
Some of the greatest Light Heavyweight boxers of all time include the likes of Roy Jones Jr, Michael Spinks, Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, Harry Greb, Billy Conn, Tommy Loughran, Sam Langford, Gene Tunney and Bob Foster.
