Kell Brook and Timothy Bradley are in advanced talks to face each otherIf you were disappointed when Kell Brook’s fight with Diego Chaves fell through, then you’ll be pleased to hear talks with WBO champ Timothy Bradley are going strong. In fact, according to the Sheffield Express, Brook has said only a few hurdles remain.

“I’m an undefeated world champion and I want to be out there fighting the best in the welterweight division,” Brook said. “That’s how I’ll prove I’m the best. When I tell people what I’m going to do, I always back it up. I think we are very close to making the Bradley fight and I’m excited.”

A showdown with a marquee name like Bradley would be huge for Brook who, thanks to injuries and plain bad luck, has been unable to pin down a true US crossover fight. Facing Bradley, and of course beating ‘Desert Storm’, would get American audiences talking, and lead to even bigger stateside clashes.

Even though Bradley is headed to the Hall of Fame on roller skates (well, almost), a win over a refined boxer-puncher like Brook would pretty much cement his place among the sport’s best. So, with that in mind, both fighters have gargantuan reasons to take this potential bout seriously indeed.

“I need this, something will get me more recognition and that means an opponent that will get the fans really talking about me,” Brook continued. “I don’t mind where it is, I’d prefer it to be over here but I could get up for a trip to Las Vegas as well. It’s a Catch 22 situation. Where does he want to get beat?”

With Brook’s solid boxing ability and knockout power, plus Bradley’s versatile, all-action style, this one looks to be fan-friendly from the first bell. It should make dollars, sense, and for that reason I think we’ll be seeing these guys trading blows in mid to late 2016, maybe a little earlier.

Who would you back in a Kell Brook vs Timothy Bradley unification matchup, fight fans? Who would leave the ring with the IBF (Brook’s) and WBO Welterweight straps?
