Keith Thurman gives his take on Shawn Porter, Amir Khan, Kell Brook and Welterweight rivalsKeith Thurman may be yet to defeat an elite member of the Welterweight division, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have opinions on its inhabitants. Thurman, 26, who stopped Luis Collazo in July, summed up his potential opposition to Boxing News.

Would it be a surprise to reveal Thurman saw little threat in his 147 pound rivals? No, it wouldn’t. However, of all the fighters he summarized, he viewed Kell Brook as a fighter worthy of his full attention. “Solid,” Thurman said. “I respect him. I would be well prepared for that fight.”

Thurman viewed Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley as the least threatening. “Run away,” Thurman said of Khan. “If I step in the ring with him all he’s going to be doing is running away.” And of Bradley, just two words: “Easy work.”

When it came to Shawn Porter, Thurman commented: “He’s a great opponent, most definitely. He comes to fight hard every time. I respect him, and I look forward to having that fight.” Porter, who won a Unanimous Decision over Adrien Broner in June, is being touted as Thurman’s next dance partner according to the rumor mill.

Thurman said upcoming prospect Errol Spence isn’t yet on his radar, and that neither is Welterweight-newbie Danny Garcia. Thurman expressed a lot of respect for Manny Pacquiao, saying he’d relish a match-up with the Filipino icon.

Adrien Broner was simply described as “The Problem … an outspoken Cincinnati boy.” And of the recently ‘expanding’ Marcos Maidana, Thurman said: “The last update I got is ‘heavyweight’.”

How do you see Thurman faring against the top dogs of the Welterweight division? Who would cause him the most problems? And would Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley really be so easy to push over?
