It’s arrived, fight fans: the 24-hour Golovkin-Lemieux Weigh-In! At Madison Square Garden, New York, Gennady Golovkin and David Lemieux are about to step on to the scales, hopefully about to have no difficulties making the 160-pound Middleweight limit. Provided they do, they’ll be set and ready to start taking lumps out of each other tomorrow night.
Golovkin’s IBF title will be on the line, as will Lemieux’s WBA variety, making this a unification fight well worth boxing fans’ undivided attention.
HBO cameras are about to start their live stream coverage of the Golovkin-Lemieux weigh-in (any minute now):
Golovkin-Lemieux Undercard
Going in, Golovkin has a record of 33 wins, 30 knockouts, with no defeats, while Lemieux’s reads 34 wins, 31 knockouts, 2 defeats. Which, as you can see, pretty much guarantees pain for at least one of these freight trains. That’s a combined 61 knockouts in 69 bouts. Yup.
Roman Gonzalez and challenger Brian Viloria will be weighing in beforehand. Gonzalez, our No.1 Flyweight and Pound for Pound boxer, will be putting his WBC and RING Flyweight titles on the line once again, while exposing himself to a large western audience in the process. Gonzalez has a perfect record of 43 wins, 37 knockouts, 0 defeats, while Viloria carries an impressive 36 wins, 22 knockouts, 4 defeats. If any fight has a chance of upstaging Golovkin-Lemieux, it’ll likely be this affair.
In the ‘best of the rest’ portion of the undercard, Tureano Johnson (18-1, 13 KO) and Eamonn O’Kane (14-1-1, 5 KO) will be hitting the scales ahead of their Middleweight 10-round showdown. Plus, Heavyweights Luis Ortiz (22-0, 19 KO) and Matias Vidondo (20-1-1, 18 KO) will be facing off ahead of another scheduled 10-rounder.
Golovkin-Lemieux will be broadcasted live on HBO PPV and Boxnation for UK fight fans.
