GaushaPBC’s December 12th card doesn’t look to be the most spectacular, but will at least include some exciting A-sides. PBC have announced in a press release that Victor Ortiz, Terrell Gausha and Hugo Centeno Jr will now be featuring on the bill.
Ortiz (30-5-2, 23 KO) will be back in action following another long spell outside the ring. Again. The boxer-come-movie star, who has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately, was last in the ring in December. Ortiz and a very game Manuel Perez produced a 3 round barnburner, which saw Perez eventually fall under Ortiz’s overwhelming assault.
The victory returned Ortiz to winning ways following three back-to-back defeats, but the 29-year-old sustained a hand injury which has so far kept him outside the ropes in 2015.
Then there are prospects Gausha, a 16-0, 8 KO Junior Middleweight, and Centeno Jr, a 23-0, 12 KO Middleweight. Both are young, hungry, and will of course be looking to extend their unbeaten runs to edge closer a marquee name in their respective divisions – and probably one from Al Haymon’s bursting stable.
Who will the above boxers be facing exactly? Well, as of yet, no names have been announced which, given the card is set to unfold in less than a month, points to a bunch of mismatches being produced. As always, I hope I’m very wrong about that.
Headlining the event will be Omar Figueroa vs Antonio DeMarco in a 12 round Junior Welterweight clash. In the Heavyweight co-support, upstart Domonic Breazeale will take on Chris Martin, and seasoned Chris Arreola will trade blows with Travis Kauffman. Both showdowns are scheduled for 10 rounds.
The PBC on NBC card will unravel at the AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas.
What are your thoughts on the Figueroa vs DeMarco card, folks?
