Dillian Whyte – that guy who’s not fighting Anthony Joshua just yet – has vowed to put in an explosive performance this weekend on the Campbell vs Coyle undercard.
This shouldn’t be too hard a feat for the unbeaten Whyte to accomplish. His scheduled opponent, Irineu Beata Costa – a 34-year-old who’s lost four of his last six fights – .isn’t exactly Joshua.
“It’ll be a big crowd, I think the show’s sold out already,” he told Boxing News. “I’m in good shape, I’m ready to go out there and knock somebody out.
“I’ve watched a few of his fights. He’s a big guy, a tough guy, he’s got a lot of knockouts to his name but at the end of the day he’s there for me to beat, I’ve just got to try and do it quicker than David Price did.”
Costa can certainly bang, having won 15 of his 17 wins by knockout. The problem is that those victories have gradually begun to slip when the Brazilian was faced with decent opposition.
Costa’s recent conquerors are Christian Hammer (UD 12), Joseph Parker (KO 4), David Price (TKO 6), and Denis Boytsov (RTD 2).
Will Dillian Whyte become another on Saturday? It looks likely, and is a must-win fight for Whyte if he fancies a lucrative payday against rival Joshua in late 2015/early 2016.
