Bradley vs Rios Inked for November
WBO champ Timothy Bradley will be doing battle with Brandon Rios on November 7th at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas. If you’re a fan of boxer-come-brawler Bradley and Rios’s violent slugger style, you could be in for an intriguing encounter.
Though the fight itself will go ahead regardless, it’s not yet known if Bradley’s WBO strap will be on the line. The WBO have stated they will only sanction the bout if an agreement can be made with the promoter of Sadam Ali, who is currently the body’s number 1 ranked fighter at 147 pounds.
Man, if a title isn’t on the line, it’s really going to kill the appeal of this fight…
Bradley is coming off a tainted Unanimous Decision over Jessie Vargas in June, and Rios a 3rd round demolishment of Mike Alvarado back in January. Stay tuned for more on this headliner and the undercard as it materializes.
Andrew Selby Enters the Paid Ranks
Andrew Selby, the lil’ bro of IBF Featherweight champ Lee Selby, has turned pro. The Amateur standout, who has won a World Championship Silver medal and two European golds in the Olympic Games, has signed with manager Chris Sanigar.
“We’re not going to fast-track him, we’re going to wait and see how he gets on on his debut and that will gives us more indication,” Sanigar told Boxing News. “Just because they’re top class amateurs, it doesn’t always mean the pro game’s going to suit you. We’ll take it steady.”
Though fresh out the Amateur circuit, Selby has been sparring professional boxers alongside brother Lee in American gyms, taking on the likes of Daniel Ramirez and Jayro Duran. Experience in legendary training grounds such as the Wild Card gym will no doubt prove priceless.
“It was an honor to represent Team GB,” Selby said in a press statement. “I would like to thank Robert McCracken and all of the coaching team, management and back room staff who supported me through my amateur career. I feel the time is right for me to pursue a pro boxing career and I can’t wait for the big fights ahead.”
Will Andrew Selby become another great talent like brother Lee? And who will be the favorite going into Bradley vs Rios?
