P4P: Legends & History

The Pound for Pound rankings measure the sport’s greatest boxers, no matter their weight. Unlike regular rankings that compare boxers from a single division, P4P focuses on skill level and achievements alone, meaning anyone from Strawweight to Heavyweight is considered.

Sports writers have been using the term for some time, with popularity rising during the early 1990s. By its very nature, these ‘mythical’ rankings are very subjective, but can be an effective, intriguing way to capture a snapshot of how today’s elite boxing talents shape up.

Some of the greatest P4P boxers of all time include the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao, Roy Jones Jr, Evander Holyfield, Sugar Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns, Julio Cesar Chavez, Roberto Duran, Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson.
