Guillermo Rigondeaux, the Junior Featherweight division’s unbeaten standout, has been stripped of the WBO title. Why? Because he hasn’t fought a mandatory challenger, let alone actually fight much, since winning the accolade in 2013.
After capturing it from Nonito Donaire, the Cuban technician has made three voluntary defences against Joseph Agbeko, Sod Kokietgym and Hisashi Amagasa. But don’t worry, the 35-year-old still has the WBA’s ‘Super’ variety in tow.

Have Roy Jones Jr and Enzo Maccarinelli earned the right to fight for a world championship? If you ask the WBA, they would agree, even going as far as offering the winner their ‘prestigious’ world title. Which, you know, is only offered to ‘deserving’ contenders.

Jones Jr and Maccarinelli will be meeting on December 12th, supposedly in Russia where Jones has now received his citizenship papers. My guess is the fight will be taking place at Cruiserweight. Like it really matters.
Tony Thompson Says He’ll KO Deontay Wilder
Yep. And then the 44-year-old is gonna’ fight Wladimir Klitschko. That is, according to a recent interview with FightHype. Here’s what the Heavyweight contender, who takes on Malik Scott this weekend, had to say:
“My plan is to knockout Deontay Wilder, take his belt, and use it as enticement to fight Klitschko for a third fight,” Thompson told FightHype. “I’m still not satisfied with the outcomes [of two past defeats to Klitschko]. Deontay Wilder is America’s champion, but he’s not the heavyweight champion of the world.
“Wladimir is the heavyweight champion of the world. That’s who I’m chasing through Deontay. Deontay is like three inches taller than me. We sparred for the Klitschko fight.”
