Gennady Golovkin may be the favorite to capture victory on October 17th, but opponent David Lemieux assures he is coming to steal his limelight. At the pairs’ latest press conference in New York, the Canadian boxer-banger told reporters he’s not just another knockout victim in waiting, and will come to not only fight but beat the odds.
FightHub TV cameras were there to catch all the action:
The 26-year-old acknowledged the opportunity to challenge ‘GGG’ did take him by surprise, but said he feels more than ready to take the Kazakhstan fighter’s belts. Lemieux said he is keen on facing the winner of Miguel Cotto vs Canelo Alvarez in the future, and also reminisced on his earliest memories of boxing as a youngster: mainly getting his ass kicked.
Oh, how things change…
Both Middleweights will of course represent the toughest challenge either has faced in their careers. 33-year-old Golovkin is 33-0, 30 KO, and holder of the IBO, WBA titles, while Lemieux is 34-2-0, 31 KO, and holder of the IBF variety. The pair will be trading leather at New York boxing mecca, Madison Square Garden.
