Tyson Fury is aiming to conquer Wladimir Klitschko on October 24th, and the 27-year-old Brit looks to be going balls-to-the-wall in his preparations. The 6’ 9 fighter recently told Sky Sports he’s enjoying the most gruelling training camp of his career, doing 12-rounders with 6’ 6” sparring partners every day.
“I’m enjoying preparation,” Fury said. “It’s the biggest fight of my life. I’m working harder than I’ve ever worked before, because I’m more determined. I’m just on it. On it, on it, on it.
“It’s different to anything I’ve ever done before. We’re looking for explosive power. Snap. I need a knockout in Germany to win and that’s what I’ll be getting. We’re working on explosive movements, power movements – lots of stuff we didn’t do before.”
When this fight was first announced, it was hard to see Fury posing much of a threat to Klitschko. But Fury (24-0, 18 KO) seems to be aware of the challenge ahead, and, to be finally taking his training seriously. As this fight draws closer, bookmakers could well be changing their odds considerably.
Klitschko (64-3, 53 KO) may give up three inches in height and four in reach, but has not suffered a loss in 11 years. And that is part of the reason he’s considered a logical favorite. For now at least. Don’t forget to catch our Klitschko vs Fury Extended Tale of the Tape.
