Roman Gonzalez will face Brian Viloria on the GGG-Lemieux undercardAfter scoring a 1st round knockout of Omar Soto in July, Brian Viloria mentioned Roman Gonzalez as one of his preferred next opponents. And now, the Hawaiian has got his wish.

And what bigger stage could it air on than that of GGG-Lemieux in Madison Square Garden, New York. Viloria (our #4 Flyweight) may be a little out of his depth against Gonzalez (our #1 and #2 P4P), but this isn’t a bad match-up. Scrap that – this is a fight, and looks pretty darn fan-friendly!

Only the most cynical of fight fans would be displeased with this pairing. Gonzalez is of course the division’s undefeated king pin, not to mention quite possibly the most unrecognized pound for pounder in boxing. The Nicaraguan, who dismantled Edgar Sosa in May, is already a three-weight champion, bagging straps at 105, 108, and 112 pounds.

Gonzalez may have dealt with 86% of his victims inside the distance, but Viloria has also had his fair share of brutal victories. The 34-year-old reorganized the features of Giovani Segura in 2011 (TKO 8), and knocked down Hernan Marquez three times in 2012 (TKO 10). Viloria has lost just once since 2010, a Split Decision to Juan Francisco Estrada.

Are you looking forward to Roman Gonzalez locking horns with Brian Viloria? Two potentially explosive fights on the same HBO PPV bill can’t be a bad thing. In time we’ll see…
