At the O2 Arena, London, David Haye made quick, easy and brutal work of a ridiculously overmatched opponent in Mark de Mori. After a dominating minute or two of action, Haye countered a de Mori soft jab with a monster right hand, and swiftly followed it up with several dynamite finishing blows before de Mori hit the deck.
De Mori was out for a lot longer than the ten count, forcing medical staff ringside to immediately pour into the ring to offer assistance. Fortunately de Mori was eventually able to find his feet, stand for the official result, and leave the ring without aid.
Jeez, I need to actually find something else to write about here. Bare with me…
Well, I guess I ought to say that the Hayemaker is officially back…or something? Well, he definitely is, but I’m not sure this encounter has told us too much – if anything at all – about Haye’s physical being (post shoulder afflictions and four-year layoff), and where Haye stands among the best players of the Heavyweight division. Why? Because Haye vs de Mori was akin to a bulldozer colliding with a matchbox car.
Haye now improves to 27 wins, 2 defeats, 24 knockouts, while de Mori returns to Croatia with 30 wins, 2 defeats, 2 draws, 26 knockouts.
Yes, Haye is back. But I’m already itching to see Wilder vs Szpilka and Martin vs Glazkov later tonight stateside, hoping (praying) that they’ll help me wipe this ugly mismatch from my mind. Fight fans, chime in with your own thoughts on Haye vs De Mori in the comments (if you have the enthusiam to do so, I applaud you endlessly).
