Golovkin vs Lemieux: Summary
There you have it, fight fans! There’s a heck of a lot of stats to digest there, but the evidence points to Golovkin holding an edge due to his greater world title experience (14 – 1) and slightly harder knockout ratio (91% – 86%). The powerhouse also boasts the better Amateur pedigree (345-5 – 72-12) and is yet to taste defeat (33-0 – 34-2).
Lemieux does stand out in some key areas, however; the Montreal banger is 7 years younger than Golovkin (26 – 33), and has scored more knockouts inside 6 rounds (27 – 12) than his scheduled foe.
In terms of physical stature, there is little between them. Both carry a 70″ reach, with Golovkin standing just the 1″ taller. Toes should remain free of pain in this bout as both fighters are Orthodox in stance. Golovkin vs Lemieux will headline an HBO PPV card on October 17th.
