In Montriel, Canada, Eleider Alvarez (18-0, 10 KO) remained undefeated, earning a Unanimous Decision over Isidro Prieto. Despite some sticky patches, and a very shaky 6th round, Alvarez got the job done after finding his rhythm in the second half.
Scorecards came in at 117-111 from all three judges. Boxing Base had no qualms whatsoever, scoring it 117-111.
This of course meant Prieto (24-1-3, 20 KO) had to pick up the first sole loss of his pro career. But his performance was nothing to be scoffed at. The Argentine fighter posed a threat throughout, and found considerable success with the overhand right. Prieto’s undoing was likely owed to his poorer conditioning, which quite simply let him down.
From the 6th round on, Prieto’s work became more and more ragged, which allowed Alvarez to capitalize and gain control. Still, Alvarez vs Prieto was a good scrap. Not a classic, but an entertaining one. Headliner Bute vs Di Luisa was to follow.
