David Lemieux has the power to dispatch of Gennady Golovkin at the weekendWho wins Golovkin vs Lemieux? That’s the big question circling the boxing fandom right now. If you’re unsure of the victor, let me assure you you’re definitely not alone.

But let’s try to be objective. Here are 5 knockout reasons why David Lemieux will upset the Gennady Golovkin train on Saturday…

1. Golovkin Has Never Met a Fighter Like Lemieux

In short, Montreal puncher, David Lemieux, is just all wrong for Kazakhstan’s finest fighter. Despite popular opinion, Golovkin is just a man, and Lemieux is the one to prove that fact in Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

2. Lemieux is Too Strong & Fresh

Lemieux, 27, isn’t just a physically overwhelming fighter, he’s also seven years younger than Golovkin. That’s an undeniably big age gap, and will likely pay dividends during explosive exchanges and crucial recovery periods of the fight.

3. Lemieux is In the Zone, Coming to ‘Win’

Lemieux isn’t just turning up to be pulverized and shuvelled into Golovkin’s rising heap of victims, he’s coming to actually win. Not only is Lemieux mentally strong, he also holds the IBF championship, an accolade acquired by knocking down Hassan N’Dam four times en route to a shutout decision. In Lemieux, Golovkin will be facing a champion eyeing Middleweight supremacy – and that is a dangerous man to share the ring with.

4. Lemieux is a True Pressure Fighter

Lemieux isn’t a flashy boxer, a masterful dancer in the ring – he’s a straight-up, in-your-face seek-and-destroyer. Golovkin may have had his way with all 33 of his previous victims, but he will find himself in very deep waters when Lemieux pushes him on to the backfoot for the first time in his career. Sure, Curtis Stevens was a big puncher, but Lemieux isn’t an opportunist counter-banger like him – Lemieux will be gunning for the knockout right off the bat.

5. By the Time Golovkin Has Adjusted, it Will Be Lights Out

Golovkin doesn’t usually need to adjust too much in fights, but against Lemieux he will be forced to. Why? Because Lemieux throws fight-changing, concussive bombs, and they must be respected when they begin flying in his direction. If Lemieux smothers Golovkin early on, it could well result in game over for ‘GGG’.
